America, turn from your wickedness and live, or die! God has spoken.

Scripture:
Give them my entire message; include every word. Perhaps they will listen and turn from their evil ways. Then I will change my mind about the disaster I am ready to pour out on them because of their sins. – Jeremiah 2b-3

Observation:
Jeremiah delivered every message to the people of Israel that God gave him. Never did he fail to give the Word. God even warned the prophet to ensure that he spoke every word in the message. The reason for this was so that God’s people could have the opportunity to repent of their evil ways and turn back to the LORD. The LORD of heaven’s armies was about to annihilate the Jews for their sins, but He said He would relent if they turned back to Him.

Application:
Oh America, land of the beautiful and home of the brave, how long will you spit in the face of the LORD of heaven’s armies who has bestowed upon you more wealth and prosperity than the world has ever known? You were small and insignificant in your own eyes as a child and were orphaned by the world to take care of yourself, but the God of heaven provided for you in abundance. However, you have grown fat and lazy in your 200+ years of existence and have become so self-reliant that you have told God there is no longer any need for His providence. You have even begun to turn your back on the Daughter of Zion, Israel. Once you begin to curse Israel, know that the LORD will curse you. You have slaughtered the innocents by the millions until their blood has filled your streets and risen to the heights of heaven, itself! Justice has been replaced by greed and selfishness. The LORD has become furious with you and will bring upon you certain destruction for your terrible sins!

Yet despite all that, the LORD has chosen to give you another opportunity to turn from your wicked ways and repent and relent from the violence that has consumed your heart and filled your streets. Turn from your wicked ways and fall prostrate before your God and acknowledge Him in all your ways that He may order your steps and relent from the coming disaster He has prophesied against this nation! Why wicked people will you harden your hearts against the King of kings and Lord of lords? He has given you everything and clothed you when you were a babe sitting naked in the woods and abandoned by your mother and father? He dressed you, loved you, and provided for you, yet you continually defy Him and test His love and patience. Turn, turn from your wicked ways and live! God doesn’t delight in the death of the wicked.

Prayer:
Father, I cannot repent on behalf of my nation, but I do pray that You would stay Your mighty hand and outstretched arm with which You will use to bring certain destruction upon this nation. We have murdered the innocents and turned our backs on You because of the great abundance of provision You gave to us. We have relied upon our means to get things done rather than submitting to You and trusting in You to defend and provide for us. Have mercy upon my people and nation LORD! I pray for Your grace and compassion once more Father. May Your will be done, not mine. I have delivered the message with every word in it that You’ve spoken to me. In Jesus’ name, Amen.
