Revelation 14:5 ” And in their mouth was found no deceit, for they are without fault before the throne of God.”
John now sees in his vision a group of men numbering 144,000 with 12,000 from each tribe of the nation of Israel except that of Dan. The men of Dan are not numbered among these 144,000 chaste individuals. The Bible says that these men are undefiled and have not known women; thus they are virgins. They are said to follow the Lamb, Jesus, wherever he goes. They are redeemed from among men being first fruits to God. Finally, it says that these men don’t speak deceitfully at all and are faultless before the throne of God.
What a resume these men have! Not only are they chaste individuals that are not involved in any type of idolatry, but they are considered without fault by God. They speak no deceit and follow Jesus always! If only the people of God would emulate the holy and consecrated lives these men will live. To us they are an example of what it is to be holy in the sight of God. That is not to say that current believers are any less loved than these. God loves all his children equally because he is not a respecter of persons. Through the blood of his Son we, the believers, are all considered holy and righteous because of the righteousness of Christ and not of ourselves.
The type of character these men demonstrate is the very essence of whom God wants all of us to be. Many people would look at these men and say that they could never live alife like these men will. Well, the truth of the matter is that we may not all be as chaste as these men are, but we can practice not speaking deceitfully, following Jesus wherever he leads, and keeping ourselves pure and holy. The day is coming when those who don’t practice holiness will not enter into the kingdom of heaven. The author of Hebrews (12:14) wrote, “Make every effort to live in peace with everyone and to be holy; without holiness no one will see the Lord.” Let us live pure and holy lives before God as the power of God’s Spirit enables us to do so.
Father, most gracious God of heaven and the universe, you have chosen for yourself 144,000 chaste men of the nation of Israel to serve as your end-times evangelists to share and spread the Word of the Gospel among the lost and rebellious people of the earth. They are truly a group to be honored and privileged to serve you. I desire to live a life that emulates the Jesus and his holiness, as these men will do one day. You have enabled us through the power of your Spirit to do so if we will be submissive to your Spirit and sensitive enough to hear his guiding words to us. Help me to have ears to hear what the Spirit is saying to the churches. He testifies of Jesus and does only what you command. May I hear his instructions and following his lead. Thank you for giving me the opportunity to live a humble life before you. I am to be holy as you are holy. That is where I want to be and how I want to live. In Jesus’ name, Amen.
