He proclaimed the kingdom of God and taught about the Lord Jesus Christ—with all boldness and without hindrance! – Acts 28:31
Paul had been shipwrecked on his voyage to Rome, but the soldiers managed to bring him there to stand trial before Caesar. While imprisoned in Rome, Paul taught the Jews and Gentiles about the Lord Jesus the Messiah. He proved from the prophets that Jesus is the Messiah, which caused some Jews to believe and others to reject Him. Thus, dissension arose among the Jews. Then as he had done many times before, Paul explained that God used the Jews to bring the gospel story to the Gentile, who would listen and believe. For two years prior to his execution, Paul taught with boldness and did so without restriction. He finally got to preach the gospel as boldly as he had asked churches to pray that he could.
The interesting note is that a prisoner preached the Word of God without hindrance and with boldness from prison for two entire years before he was executed. Most people shudder at the very thought of sharing the gospel of Jesus with others, and they are not in prison! Oh that Americans would stand boldly for their Messiah and spread the good news of the kingdom of heaven to the lost of this world.
For the day is coming in the world where it will be illegal to proclaim the good news of salvation alone in Jesus, and people will be imprisoned for their bold stand to declare the Truth of Jesus as Messiah. Paul wrote that he was not ashamed of the gospel of Messiah, and we shouldn’t either. Jesus told us that those who are ashamed of Him in this life, He would not proclaim before the Father and His angels.
Are you ashamed of your Messiah? Are you a closet Christian? Or, are you a CINO – Christian In Name Only? Do you share the gospel with the lost in your neighborhood or city or town or village? Do people even know that you are a believer in Messiah? Does your life reflect the glory of God, or does it look like the world around you throwing doubt in the world’s mind about your belief in Messiah?
Stand up! Shake off the demon of fear! Proclaim the good news of Jesus’ death, burial and resurrection! If you’re ashamed of Him, He will deny you. Is that what you want? Speak the Word. Preach the Word. Be ready in season and out of season. Give an account to all men of your faith.
Father, give the strength through Your grace to be like Paul to stand up and preach the Word of God with boldness and without restriction! I want to take advantage of the time and redeem the time to share with others the good news of salvation while there is still light, for the night soon approaches. Then men will not stand for sound doctrine and will heed the doctrine of demons. May Your kingdom be advanced by Your people. May sinners come to know Your love in Jesus! In Jesus’ name, Amen.
