And pray for me, too. Ask God to give me the right words so I can boldly explain God’s mysterious plan that the Good News is for Jews and Gentiles alike. – Ephesians 6:19
Paul concludes his brief letter to the Ephesian church and includes a request that they would pray for him to have boldness in Messiah to proclaim the truth of the great mystery that God’s plan includes salvation for both Jew and Gentile.
Now that God’s Spirit enlightened us to the Truth of the Good News – salvation is for all who will believe – we need to be active in spreading that Good News. Paul asked the Ephesian believers to pray for his boldness for continued proclamation of this great mysterious Truth. Are we any less than Paul? Are we any greater than Paul? The answer to both questions is, “No!”
We need fulfill the Great Commission of preaching the Good News to all people everywhere, making disciples of those that convert, and baptizing them in the name of God the Father, Son, and Spirit. Jesus gave the order. Paul asked for boldness in doing so. Thus, how do we justify not going and not doing? We often use the phrase, “Give or Go,” regarding missions. However, the Truth is that we are all missionaries, sent ones from God, to declare this great mystery of the Good News.
Paul addressed this situation in his letter to the Roman church, “For ‘Everyone who calls on the name of the Lord will be saved.’ But how can they call on him to save them unless they believe in him? And how can they believe in him if they have never heard about him? And how can they hear about him unless someone tells them? And how will anyone go and tell them without being sent? That is why the Scriptures say, ‘How beautiful are the feet of messengers who bring good news!'” (Rom. 10:13-15) You, brother and sister, are those messengers! WE have an obligation to the lost to deliver that Good News, as did the person who led us to Messiah. We need to ask God to give us boldness to proclaim the Good News of that great mystery of Messiah’s salvation being for Jew and Gentile!!
Father, I pray for every believer in the world today! I ask boldly with confidence and faith in you to give every believer the boldness they need to stand up and declare the Truth of the great mystery of your love for Jew and Gentile! I pray that my brothers and sisters will share their testimony with others, as your Spirit leads them. Please give me that same boldness, sir. May not only my life exemplify that great mysterious Truth, but may my words ring loud and true to all who will believe on your Son, Jesus, as the Messiah and Lord. Help me harvest souls for your kingdom. You reap where you did not plant. I want to be a good, faithful servant, son, and friend. In Jesus’ name, Amen.
