Scripture:
Ephraim boasts, “I am very rich; I have become wealthy. With all my wealth they will not find in me any iniquity or sin.” – Hosea 12:8
Observation:
Nearing the end of his propechy, Hosea delivers a word from God to Israel (Ephraim, aka the northern kingdom) that states that God did everything for the nation of Israel, but Israel deserted God for idols and rebellion. Because Israel turned against God, they would experience being exiled. In God’s address to Ephraim, He notes that Israel boasts of his riches and that his riches will prevent anyone from finding his sins. This statement sounds a bit “Revelationary” to use a bad pun.
Application:
God has been reiterating His Word from ancient Israel to us, America. This time in ancient Israel’s history mirrors that prophesied by John in a letter from Jesus describing the Laodicean church, who thought it was wealthy and had need of nothing, but was really miserable, wretched, poor, blind and naked. Jesus told that church that they needed to quit trusting in their earthly riches and buy eternal riches from Him. Ancient Israel never learned that lesson, which Jesus spoke of to Laodicea. Thus, Israel, because of its rebellion and sins, was exiled into the Assyrian Empire. They were essentially lost to time and humanity in the great Diaspora. The Jews of Judah continued on for about 100 years more before they met the same fate for the same reasons.
I said all that to come to this point, America faces the same fate and solution IF she doesn’t turn from her wicked ways, repent of her sins as a nation, and make God the Father LORD over this country once more. The Bible says that the nation whose God is the LORD is blessed. Well, we kicked God to the curb some time ago. He is no longer acknowledged in our schools at any grade level. His commandments have been banished from the public square. It is in vogue to bash Christians but not people of other faiths/religions. We’ve murdered innocent babies and spilled the blood of over 40 Million children in the womb, as we sacrificed them to Molech in the name of pro-choice. Homosexuality has been normalized in our society. Debauchery has become the order of the day. And, finally, the level of greed in our country has reached astronomical proportions.
IF we think that we can carry on this way and not expect to see the wrath of God, we are fooling ourselves and doing so at our own peril. This is on top of the fact that we have begun a process of turning our back on Israel and demanding that she give up her lands to uncircumcised Philistines even though God promised the land of the Canaanites to Israel. America is in need of a spiritual awakening now more than ever before. It is HIGH TIME we got on our knees and humbled ourselves before the King of the universe and under His mighty hand! The day fast approaches when we will see destruction from the wrath of God as it is poured out on our homeland for its collective sins.
America, especially the modern, Western church, has taken on the philosophy and attitude that “Peace and Safety” has come. We think that we have all that we need and that our wealth (perceived in our minds only) will save us from destruction and perpetuate one of hell’s greatest lies – “the American Dream.” This “dream” is nothing more than pure greed, plain and simple. We must wake up, see the sad state we are in, and repent before God while we are able. His hand just might be stayed a little while longer IF we seek Him and change our ways. IF not, His wrath is swift and certain.
Prayer:
Father, I plead for my nation on behalf of all Americans. We were a bright light shining on a hill in our infancy, but in our maturing, we became proud and turned against and away from You. We fulfilled in ourselves exactly what You said to Hosea about Israel, ““When Israel was a child, I loved him, and I called my son out of Egypt. But the more I called to him,
the farther he moved from me, offering sacrifices to the images of Baal and burning incense to idols. I myself taught Israel how to walk, leading him along by the hand. But he doesn’t know or even care that it was I who took care of him.” Have mercy on us, LORD, and allow us the opportunity to repent of our collective, national sins and seek Your face once more and make You God of this nation, again. I know that Your wrath on us in inevitable, but grant the petition of Your servant and send another (the third) Great Awakening to America. I want and will spearhead whatever needs to be done to make it happen: prayer, fasting, preaching, teaching, etc. You lead, and I will follow. In Jesus’ name, Amen.
