Do exactly as God says & enjoy the blessing.

Scripture:
Then the Lord said to Moses, “Reach out your hand and take it by the tail” (and he reached out his hand and caught it, and it became a rod in his hand)… – Exodus 4:4

Observation:
God called to Moses from the burning bush. When Moses turned to investigate this phenomenon, the LORD continued to address him and explain to Moses how he’d be used to set God’s people free from Egyptian slavery and brought to their promised homeland. Moses started balking at God’s instructions because of his fear. He doubted how the people would believe him, so God had Moses witness His power through demonstrations of supernatural events, including the transformation of his rod into a snake and back into a rod again. God specifically told Moses to handle the snake/rod by the tail. If Moses hadn’t obeyed God, the snake may have bit him and poisoned him.

Application:
What has God told you to do lately? Have you complied with God’s instructions? Again, IF Moses hadn’t handled the snake exactly as God dictated, he may have suffered being envenomated. Because Moses obeyed God’s Word, he suffered no negative consequence. When we sin, we suffer the outcome of our choice of action. The Bible makes it extremely clear that blessing always follows obedience. On the other hand, it demonstrates that disobedience is always followed by repercussions. Not every act of disobedience ends in some physically life-threatening situation, but it does cause a temporary setback in our walk with God. Fortunately, God forgave us of our sins upon conversion and continues to do so when we confess to Him the ones we commit after conversion.

If Moses had picked up the snake by any other part of its body other than the tail, we can be sure he more than likely would have been bitten and envenomated. God would have healed him no doubt, but he listened and suffered no ill fate. We would be wise to behave likewise in regard to God’s plans for us. God tells us what to do, so we need to do it just as prescribed, plain and simple. We are the ones who make life hard, not God. Obedience may seem straightforward, but it’s not always that easy to follow because of doubt and uncertainty in our hearts. If we will step out in faith as God desires and complete our mission, we will enjoy the fruit of His blessing. It will come, maybe not when we expect or think, but it will come nonetheless. Trust in your God!

Prayer:
Father, strengthen and increase my faith. Help me to trust You completely. My mission lies in front of me awaiting its fulfillment. I wait upon You for the moment of opportunity for the large assignment You’ve given me, but I also need to be about the work of the evangelist and lead souls to Jesus and salvation. Help me to be a light on a hill and not one under a bushel. Your will be done, not mine. In Jesus’ name, Amen.
