What is possible and impossible?

Scripture:
But Jesus looked at them and said, “With men it is impossible, but not with God; for with God all things are possible. – Mark 10:27

Observation:
A young Jewish ruler came to Jesus and asked Him what he could do to be saved. Jesus informed him of the Mosaic Law he knew but also of the one thing he’d neglected – getting rid of the one thing that held him back from serving God fully – his riches! Jesus then told the apostles that the rich would have a hard time entering the Kingdom of heaven. A camel could pass through a needle’s eye easier than would happen. The apostles then asked Jesus who could be saved. He replied that in man’s abilities it is impossible to be saved; however, with God ALL things are possible!

Application:
How long have you been trying to do things in your own KSAs (knowledge, skills, and abilities)? God told us well over 2,o00 years ago that it’s not by might, not by power, but by my Spirit. The psalmist even before the days of Zechariah gave us Spirit-inspired words telling us the same thing, unless the LORD builds the house, those that build it labor in vain. Jesus capped it all by telling us personally that with men it is impossible to be saved. Our best efforts to reach heaven (or our righteousness) are considered by God to be nothing more than a pile of filthy rags. In other words, we cannot save ourselves. We must do as Paul said to the Ephesians, For by grace you have been saved through faith, and that not of yourselves; it is the gift of God, not of works, lest anyone should boast. Therefore, what is impossible with men is possible for God! He is the Creator. He is the Savior! He is the Redeemer. He is the King. He is the Lord. He is A and Z. He is the one who holds everything together. Without God, we are nothing. Therefore, trust in God. Accept His love gift of a redeeming, sin-atoning, life-giving, blood sacrifice of His Son, Jesus. Jesus makes it possible for us to have a restored personal, intimate relationship with God, as Adam had before he sinned. Isn’t that what you want? I do!

Prayer:
Father, I see with eyes and hear with ears what Your Spirit is saying to me today. With You ALL things are possible that I cannot and could not do for myself. Salvation comes through and from none other than You. Anyone who tries to come into heaven by any other way but You is a thief and a robber. All of us are deserving of eternal death, but You’ve chosen who will be adopted into Your family and permitted into Your kingdom. I pray that those chosen of You still walking around with spiritual blinders on would have their blindness removed and able to see their need for You as Lord and Savior. So many people try to work their way to You, earn their way to You, or buy their way to You only to be denied entry. What they thought they could do in and through and for themselves was only a lie and deception from Satan. Thank You for giving of Yourself and paying my sin debt and pardoning me from my criminal sin record. What  I couldn’t do for myself, You did do! Thank You; I love You. In Jesus’ name, Amen.
