Look to God for your answers, and give praise all the same.

Scripture:
O Lord of Heaven’s Armies, God of Israel, you are enthroned between the mighty cherubim! You alone are God of all the kingdoms of the earth. You alone created the heavens and the earth. 17 Bend down, O Lord, and listen! Open your eyes, O Lord, and see!  – Isaiah 37:16-17a

Observation:
King Hezekiah had received threats against him and the nation Judah and that the Assyrian army would pounce on them and destroy them. He received word from Isaiah that God would defend His city and His people. Thus, the king went and offered praise and prayer to God for the need that was before the nation of Judah – deliverance from Assyria!

Observation:
So many times we go and try to solve our problems on our own instead of turning to the One who can – Jehovah! Hezekiah knew in whom his salvation would come. His army was no match for the 185,000 man army standing outside his city gates. There was no physical possibility of a victory for Judah with their outnumbered forces. We need to learn that lesson too! When all seems hopeless with no answer in sight, let’s turn our eyes and prayers toward heaven and call on the LORD God Almighty, who can move on our behalf and move heaven and earth if necessary.

The other thing we see the king doing is offering praise  to God and magnifying Him for who He is. We should do so not to move the heart of God but just out of love and respect for Him and His being. He is in fact the Savior, the Redeemer, the Deliverer, the Provider, and the Sovereign of the universe. He is the God who dwells between the cherubim and hears the songs of his servants and children worshiping Him continually!

Prayer:
Father, I just want to take time and offer my praises to you! You are the only ONE worthy of glory, honor, and praise. I am made for you great pleasure. I turn to You for all my needs and desires. And, I present this petition that You’d move not only in my life but in the life of a good friend who needs your deliverance in a sticky situation. Bless this person with your favor and set this one free. You are able to do all because nothing is too difficult for my God! Praise be to you YHWH! In Jesus’ name, Amen.
