What will it take, America, for you to repent before the LORD and be saved?

Scripture:Perhaps the people of Judah will repent when they hear again all the terrible things I have planned for them. Then I will be able to forgive their sins and wrongdoings. – Jeremiah 36:3

Observation:
The people of Judah and Jerusalem enjoyed a longer stay in the Promised Land because they had some kings over time who did what was right in the eyes of God and obeyed his word. Israel went into exile many decades sooner because they never had a godly king. However, Judah committed the same sins Israel did and even worse! God sent his prophets to this nation again and again trying to woo them back to him and save them from certain destruction, but history proved time and again that Judah would not relent from her sins and repent. She continued to delve deeper into her spiritual rebellion and prostitution. Thus, God eventually sent Judah into exile as well.

Application:
How long will it take for America to hear this message of violence and destruction that is coming upon her and repent and turn back to God? We have a list of crimes against us as a nation: murder, stealing, lies, fraud, deception, adultery, greed, jealousy, dishonor, but perhaps the greatest – turning our backs on the Creator of the universe, Jehovah, who gave us all the bounty we’ve enjoyed since our inception as a nation. God is showing us the list of things he has against us. He plans to bring this once great country to its knees in humiliation to teach it humility and respect for the One who owns her and gave himself for her and set her up as the modern-day jewel she has been.

Today, the LORD reminds us of our past and hopes that his daughter will come to her senses and repent once more and walk again chaste and pure before him, as she did as a child. God loves this nation as much as he loves any nation. He doesn’t delight in the death of the wicked. No, he desires that all come to repentance. Jehovah wants all people everywhere to accept his gift of eternal life through Jesus the LORD. However, the sad truth is that most people won’t accept him, and this country will more than likely continue to reject the One who gave her life – Jehovah!

America, now is the time. Today is the appointed hour of salvation. Look to the LORD Jesus Christ as your savior. No one can save you from the certain destruction that faces you because of your rebellion against God’s laws for such things as the blood of the innocents that fills your streets, the greed of merchants that has ruined your economic system, the bribery and deception in your legal system that has replaced justice with injustice, and the moral depravity that has ravaged your cities rather than the neighborly love that should fill the hearts of your people by doing unto others what you want them to do to you.

Repent, America, and see the joy of the LORD once more within your boundaries. Otherwise, the certain violence and destruction prophesied against this once mighty nation will be fulfilled. The choice is yours. The message has been delivered. Choose you this day whom you will serve. As for me and my house, we will serve the LORD!

Prayer:
Father, you have chosen to punish this nation for its terrible evil wrongdoings. The list is long and continues to grow. How many times must I ask for you to have continued mercy upon my people? The world hates us because we are a nation full of people endowed by their Creator with certain unalienable rights and the vast bounty of resources you planted within our borders. The freedom you have given us has made the world mad at us, but it has also caused us to rage against you and defy your supremacy, as God of the universe. We thumb our noses at you in sin and rebellion, as did ancient Judah and Israel. For those sins, we face your certain judgment as a nation. You are the same yesterday, today, and tomorrow. Have mercy upon my people and stay your hand just a while longer, please. I believe in your mercies and grace, Oh LORD! I warn this people of your fury, but they will not listen. May your will be done. In Jesus’ name, Amen.
