…until he learned that the Most High God rules over the kingdoms of the world and appoints anyone he desires to rule over them. – Daniel 5:21b
Belshatzar, king of Babylon, profaned the holy articles of worship from God’s temple by using them in worship to gods of metal, wood, and stone. Then a hand from heaven appeared and wrote on the wall in an unknown language to the nobles present. Then they called for the scholars to interpret, but they couldn’t. Then Daniel was called in because he had interpreted the dreams of Nebuchadnezzar years before. Daniel interpreted the message on the wall for the present king and told him the message. The message told the king that he would be deposed that very evening. In his message to the king, Daniel informed the king that his grandfather had to learn the hard way that God puts all leaders into power and takes them out of power at his pleasure, not by the whims of men.
Here is it one day before the 2012 presidential election in the United States of America. The most powerful man in the free world will be “elected” tomorrow by the “will of the people.” Well, I hate to burst everyone’s bubble, but God ultimately empowers the president-elect to serve in that position. What we, as believers of God and his children, need to do is pray and seek the heart of God and ask for whom we should vote. We might be surprised as to whom God tells us to vote for this election.
Four years ago, I would have never thought that God would allow Barack Hussein Obama to become leader of the free world. However, God saw fit to establish this man’s reign, even if for only four years. The world and the United States has to be prepared for the eventual take over of the globe for a one-world government. God, in his infinitely divine plan, knows who needs to be in power at what time in order for the prophecies of the Bible to be fulfilled.
Therefore, let us take time prior to this election to seek God and vote his mind at every level of government from the White House to the State house to the town officials. The Bible tells us through the words of the apostles that we are to pray for our leaders that we may live peaceful, quiet lives. Do your civic duty and vote if you’re registered to vote. IF not, then at least do your spiritual duty and pray for our leaders.
Father, as we head into the most controversial 24 hours of the 2012 election season, may your will be done. We know that you will put into power either Romney or Obama, and that decision will be final. Many people feign at the idea that you choose who is in power in a democratic society. They scoff because people “elect” their leaders rather than one person assuming power by whatever means. The kings of Babylon scoffed at your power to appoint leaders and remove leaders. One paid the price of living like an animal for 7 years until his mind was restored. The other paid with his life for profaning your name and holy articles. May people of an elected nation of leaders realize also that you put into power all authority at the federal and local levels. In Jesus’ name, Amen.
