Time for our leaders to submit to God’s plan.

Now then, you kings, act wisely!
Be warned, you rulers of the earth!
11 Serve the Lord with reverent fear,
and rejoice with trembling.
12 Submit to God’s royal son,[e] or he will become angry,
and you will be destroyed in the midst of all your activities—
for his anger flares up in an instant.
But what joy for all who take refuge in him!. – Psalm 2:10-12

The psalmist wrote the 2nd psalm, which is a messianic piece detailing part of the LORD’s reign here on earth as King of kings and Lord of lords. In this piece, the author states to the kings and rulers of the nations to revere the LORD and to rejoice with trembling. Why? Because those who rebel against the LORD will one day pay a hefty price for their refusal to serve God. His anger will flare up against them and result in their destruction.

Paul wrote in his letter to the Rome church that we are to submit to authority and to pray for our leaders. Today, this message speaks to me about the deteriorating status of our trust in our national leaders. The USA is on the brink of not only a financial cliff but one of a leadership cliff, as well. Our leaders have taken the stance that they don’t have to fear God anymore or listen to wise counsel from his servants. They conduct business as they see fit rather than seek the God of the universe.

I feel sorry for President Obama, who thinks he acts in the best interest of our people. He no more has our best interests in mind than the man in the moon. Our president is about his father’s business of wreaking havoc on this nation and doing as he promised….fundamentally changing us from a free nation to one of bondage and despair. If President Obama doesn’t change course and begin to honor the God of Abraham, Isaac, and Jacob, he will bring devastation upon himself and our nation. May God move on his heart to relent from his personal pursuits of rebellion and humble himself under the mighty hand of God. Those that exalt themselves will be made low while the humble will be exalted by God.

Father, I truly pray for my national leaders from President Obama to the Senate to the House to the Justices and every governmental leader under them. Our nation has long abandoned you and your principles in order to turn after other gods and serving them. I petition you to move on the heart of our president and give him cause for concern about the course of action he is taking. I want to see our country thrive again, but I feel that we will go the way of Samaria and Judah in days of old. May it not be so, Father. Nevertheless, your will will be done in the earth. May peace come again to my nation. I dread the days ahead, but I put my trust in you, Jehovah, and rely upon your provision not man’s dictate. In Jesus’ name, Amen.
