You keep track of all my sorrows. You have collected all my tears in your bottle. You have recorded each one in your book. – Psalm 56:8
In the opening of this psalm David speaks directly to God and tells him that he knows that God cares about us and cares enough to catalog every sorrow and tear we have.
Although this psalm reminds me of God’s caring nature and the extent to which he will go to show it, it also reminds me of other things David said. David said that blessed is the man to whom God does not impute his sins. I am comforted by the notion that God catches all my sorrows and bottles all my tears, but how much greater is it that he DOES NOT remember the sins of mine that he’s FORGIVEN!
Father, thank you for caring enough to catch all my sorrow and bottle all my tears, but I want to thank you even more for NOT remembering and holding against me all the sins of my past. You paid the price for them through the blood shed by Jesus on the cross! I also think of the words of apostle John when he wrote that in eternity with you there WILL BE NO MORE TEARS! Thank you for caring for me as you do. You’re the greatest! I love you!! In Jesus’ name, Amen.
