But we can praise the Lord both now and forever! Praise the Lord! – Psalm 115:18
The psalmist writes a short piece on praising God. He notes in the end of his work that the dead cannot praise God, but we, the living, can praise God now and forever more!
What can I say or add to this verse? Only this. It truly is only the living that can praise God. The dead in spirit refuse to lift even a hand in worship or praise to God. The author meant that the physically dead couldn’t praise God and that only the breathing, living person can praise God. There is truth in that statement, but the spiritually living can praise God now in this life as well as in the life to come, as they gather around the throne of God.
Father, I love praising you now in this life and anticipate praising you for eternity with the rest of the body of Christ. You are worthy to be praised just for who you are let alone for all that you’ve done for mankind. I lift my voice in praise to you and am not ashamed to praise you before others. You truly are worthy to be praised! Thank you for filling my heart with your love and enabling me to be able to praise you. In Jesus’ name, Amen.
