Lord, if you kept a record of our sins, who, O Lord, could ever survive? But you offer forgiveness, that we might learn to fear you. – Psalm 130:3-4
We read in this short work that the LORD offers forgiveness so that people can learn to revere him. IF he were to keep a record of our sins, none could survive.
The promise contained in this psalm that the LORD offers forgiveness is for those that receive him as their LORD and Savior. There is truth in that the LORD records every deed and every word that we speak. One day we will all answer to him for those things that we’ve thought, said, and done. The difference lies in the fact that those who are the children of God have had their sins forgiven by the blood of Jesus. Those who reject the eternal life gift of God through Jesus will have to stand before him one day and receive their just reward for their deeds. What a sad thought! Let us thank God today for wiping out our sin record and pardoning us through the blood of the Lamb of God!
Father, the psalmist stated correctly when he said that no one could survive if their sins are recorded. For those that refuse your love gift, they have a record for which they will answer to you. I can only say with humility and great reverence, “Thank you,” for saving me and forgiving my sins and casting them into the sea and never remembering them anymore. Without the blood of Jesus, I would have to stand before you and account for my sins and receive the reward I deserve. I love you! In Jesus’ name, Amen.
