Let each generation tell its children of your mighty acts; let them proclaim your power. – Psalm 145:4
David writes in this piece that each generation needs to tell its children about the mighty deeds of God. He tells each generation to proclaim to all the power of God. We are always just one generation away from not knowing God.
God confirms within me today the priority and necessity of proclaiming the Good News of Jesus’ death, burial, and resurrection to the generations following us. Why? Because if we don’t, not only will they not learn of God and his saving grace but face an eternity without him! We are charged with sharing the Good News to ensure that every person has the opportunity to come know Jesus and have a personal relationship with him. He desires that all people would come to repentance and that none should perish.
Father, how my heart goes out to this last generation before the end of the Age of Grace. They live life as though there were no tomorrow. They live as though life will just go on as always with no concern for the fact that you’re coming back to earth to set up your kingdom and rule forever! This age is truly as you described. It is as though it were the days of Noah with people just living and going through the motions with no care in the world. They even to refuse to heed the warnings of unbelievers who see that the earth can’t sustain itself at the current rate of consumption. Help me to spread the truth of your love and grace to this younger generation that they too may come to have a life with you forever. In Jesus’ name, Amen.
