And then he told them, “Go into all the world and preach the Good News to everyone. – Mark 16:15
Jesus had risen from the dead just as he said. He appeared to the apostles and spent many days among them before he ascended into heaven to sit at the right hand of the Father. In his final words to the apostles, Jesus told them to go and proclaim the Good News of salvation to everyone, everywhere. He didn’t ask them or suggest it. He commanded them. The command was a simple one, Go!
Why is it that we make a mountain out of a mole hill when it comes to sharing the Good News of what Jesus did for us with others? So many Christians struggle with doing this simple command – Go and proclaim. Jesus made preachers out of us all. His message wasn’t just for the apostles. Yes, they were the original recipients of this command, but the order was written down for all those to follow.
Paul then wrote to us, “Everyone who calls on the name of the Lord will be saved.” But how can they call on him to save them unless they believe in him? And how can they believe in him if they have never heard about him? And how can they hear about him unless someone tells them? And how will anyone go and tell them without being sent? That is why the Scriptures say, “How beautiful are the feet of messengers who bring good news!” Do you not realize that God thinks your nasty feet ARE BEAUTIFUL, if you spread the Good News of Jesus?
Let us get about our Father’s business and share his love story of Grace to all that will listen. May many people come into the family and kingdom of God because of your sharing of your testimony with others. Remember, the enemy will confront you and try to stop you, but you overcome him by the Blood of the Lamb and the word of YOUR testimony. Share the Good News!
Father, may more and more people come into my life with whom I may share the Good News of your love gift of grace through faith. Open the hearts of people who have been planted with the Seed of your Word and allow me to water them in order for you to give the increase. Also, may I sew Seed in the lives of others by sharing my testimony to enable others to water and harvest. Help me to raise an army of real, dedicated disciples who will be about your business of evangelism and discipleship. Thank you, and I love you. In Jesus’ name, Amen.
