Go out into the country lanes and behind the hedges and urge anyone you find to come, so that the house will be full. – Luke 14:23
Jesus told a parable about the great feast that a father prepared for his son. Many people, who had been invited, decided not to show. The father sent out his servants to invite still others, and they couldn’t fill the house for the feast. Thus, the father told the servants to go out into the remotest regions and compel the people to come to the feast.
We are commanded of God to preach the gospel to all people everywhere. The invited guests that refused to attend the feast were the Jews. Most of them over the eons of time have refused to heed the call the marriage supper of the Lamb. Many Jews are now responding and will continue to do so, and there are many non-Jews who have done likewise since Jesus rose from the dead. However, we must still go out and seek and save the lost in order to fill the house for the great feast. It’s not an option; it’s our purpose in life.
Father, Lord of the harvest, please continue to send out laborers into the field of souls that is ready to be harvested. There are so many people and so little time. Help me to raise an army for your kingdom that will be about their Father’s business of evangelizing and discipling people, who will in turn continue the process and see many souls brought into the kingdom of God. In Jesus’ name, Amen.
