The truth of God’s provision.

Scripture:
…And from Dan in the north to Beersheba in the south, each family had its own home and garden. – 1 Kings 4:25b

Observation:
In the 4th chapter of this book, we read of the dominion of King Solomon and the requirements needed to operate his vast empire. Of the things noted in the passage, we read that every family in Israel from one end to the other had plenty. They had a place to live and food to eat. There really was no lack in the time of Solomon’s reign, except in the spiritual department.

Application:
This passage reminds me of the promise Jesus gave us in his sermon on Mount Olivet. He told us through the Matthean account that if we seek God’s kingdom and righteousness first, or as priority one with all of our heart and soul, God will supply our daily physical needs. God’s people may encounter times of hardship, but there is always something more and greater waiting later on IF we will continue to trust in God. He never fails and always delivers on his promises. We don’t have to worry about what tomorrow brings when we put our trust in God and not in the things of this world. So, are you struggling financially or physically regarding basic necessities, then turn your life over to God and stop worrying. Look to him first in all things and trust him to provide what you need. (Caveat: you may not always get what you WANT, but he will supply ALL your NEED through Jesus.)

Prayer:
Father, thank you for this gentle reminder for me to continue placing all my trust in you. You are the source of my provision. I acknowledge to you today that all I have or have had or will have has come from you and you alone. You’ve blessed me with more than enough to see me through this life. Have I squandered some of it in the past? Yes, I have, but I am working to be a good steward of the resources you’ve entrusted to me. May I use them to bless you and expand your family. Thank you. In Jesus’ name, Amen.
