No doubt about it; God’s word will come to pass.

Scripture:
When they returned and told Jehu, he stated, “This fulfills the message from the Lord, which he spoke through his servant Elijah from Tishbe: ‘At the plot of land in Jezreel, dogs will eat Jezebel’s body. Her remains will be scattered like dung on the plot of land in Jezreel, so that no one will be able to recognize her.’” – 2 Kings 9:36-37

Observation:
Elisha had sent a messenger to anoint Jehu king over Israel, as God directed. Then Jehu immediately set out to destroy the house of Ahab, as God directed. When he had overthrown the kings of Judah and Israel, members of the house of Ahab, he returned to Samaria as king. Ahab’s wife, Jezebel, met him as he entered the city from her window. Two eunuchs loyal to Jehu threw her down from the ledge where she died. Dogs came and ate her body down to the hands, feet, and skull, as God directed.

Application:
When God speaks, his word will come to pass. He prophesied the destruction of the house of Ahab, which occurred. He prophesied the death of Israel’s enemies by the hand of Jehu and Elisha, which happened. So we get the point that God is a God of his word. Many times people hear the word of the LORD and fail to act out on it in faith. They allow fear or doubt to grip them and prohibit them from doing the task assigned. Someone close to me once said that it’s high time we stop asking God to increase our faith and just start obeying him. Those are great words to heed. Now let’s get out there and do the work he’s assigned us.

Prayer:
Father, the time draws near to the end of this age. There is no longer time to sit on the sidelines and watch others “get in the game.” You’ve appointed certain events to transpire in the future, and they will regardless of what others do or don’t do. For you have obedient servants in strategic places for certain times to accomplish your plan. You’ve given me a work to do for your kingdom, which I have not been about doing but have made excuses. Forgive me for bailing on you like that. I repent and set my heart in the direction of finish the course set before me. Help me to forget the past and press on toward the goal you’ve placed before me. I need your help. In Jesus’ name, Amen.
