Scripture:O people of Judah and Jerusalem, surrender your pride and power. Change your hearts before the Lord,or my anger will burn like an unquenchable fire because of all your sins. – Jeremiah 4:4
The prophet delivered a severe and austere message from God to the people of Jerusalem and Judah. The people had long abandoned the LORD and served other gods through idol worship. They turned their backs on the God of their fathers and treated his word with contempt. They practiced secret, dark religion in the privacy of their homes and even the temple. God warned them to tear their hearts before him and to return to him or face the fury of his judgment. He added that he would not destroy them all, but the majority would face his punishment.
It’s high time that we, as a nation of Americans, examined our evil ways, repented of them, fell on our faces before God, and repented for the atrocities we commit on a daily basis. Our nation has long forgotten the very One, who established her and made her the once-great entity she was! All we have to do is look around and see that America is no longer the jewel of the modern world. We still have some influence in the world, but the hey day for the USA has long ended some time ago. As a people, we have murdered more innocents than Satan dared dream of during the days of Joseph and Jesus combined. We offer our unborn children to the god of lust, the god of greed, the god of adultery, the god of pride, and the god of arrogance. For this and other great sins, our nation will one day, soon, face the wrath of God’s fury that comes upon a nation that forgets him and abandons him as their God.
On the other hand, the church – God’s people, need to take a moment also and examine themselves on a personal level. Does the heart of his people truly become filled with love and adoration for their God, or do they serve themselves? Do they honor God with lip service and a facade of appreciation, or do they worship him in Spirit and truth as he desires? Where is your heart? Mine? Our brethren? Are we having a form of outward godliness only to deceive ourselves into believing that it’s okay to sin continually while living any way we want and not face the truth of God’s word? We take the doctrine of grace and twist it into a label of easy, greasy, agape grace where people can do all they want and then just turn and ask God for forgiveness. Well, contrary to popular belief, we cannot live like the devil while decrying that we are God’s children and love him! We either love him with ALL our heart, soul, mind and strength, or we don’t! It’s that simple.
Those who go around saying it’s okay to sin don’t know what they are saying. They try to say that they use this phrase to mean that they, as followers of Christ, don’t want to sin, and if they do, God will forgive them. Yes, God will forgive us of our sins if we confess them to him. He is faithful and just to do so and also cleanse us from all unrighteousness. But when does the mind and heart of a person become reprobate (or seared like a cattle brand) from the continual indulgence of sin that they become so callous to the wooing of God’s Spirit to a heart of repentance that they no longer care or respond? These same people who tell you “it’s okay to sin” also say that salvation is eternal. Well, they had better take a hard long look in the books of the Bible where even Jesus said that there will be those whom he blots out of the Book of Life. In other places the Scriptures tell us that only the called, chosen, and FAITHFUL children of God will spend eternity with him. IF a virgin in scripture represents the church, then why did only 5 of 10 virgins enter into the feast of the groom while the others where shut out into darkness? Read YOUR bible and know the truth! Even JESUS said that NOT ALL who call him LORD will enter into heaven.
Father, I look at my life today. I see things in me that require me to bow before you and humble myself. I ask you to deal with me in the areas where I lack and have been disobedient. I need your instruction and guidance. Please show me the way of righteousness and how to life a holy life before you. I also plead the case of my people before you. I know that they desire to serve themselves instead of you, but have mercy Father. Let us have the time to come to you in repentance as you desire. May there be a stay of execution on the judgment you’ve prophesied over the USA. Even if but for a little while longer in order that family and friends may come to repentance and become part of the kingdom of God. I ask this in Jesus name because it is written, “Ask and you shall receive. Seek and you will find. Knock and it will be opened unto you.” It is also written, “whatsoever you shall ask in my name, I will do it so that the Father may be glorified.” May your will be done, not ours. In Jesus’ name, Amen.
