You are reasonable people. Decide for yourselves if what I am saying is true. – 1 Corinthians 10:15
Paul wrote in his letter to the Corinthian church a brief history of the ancient Israelites that God freed from the slavery of Egypt and how they tested God continually in the wilderness journey. An entire generation died in that desert because of their unbelief in God. He warned the Greeks to not follow in the pattern of those who died in rebellion against God but rather to obey Him and flee from things like their former worship of idols. Paul instructed the people to search for themselves if what he said was true!
How many times does Jehovah have to tap us upside the head in order to get our attention? He told us through Peter and Paul that in the last days scoffers would come and ask of Jesus’ return despite that all “has been as it has all along.” In the book of Acts we read where the Bereans did just what he told the Corinthians to do….the Bereans went home weekly to read the scriptures for themselves to ensure that what Paul taught was true. How many disciples of Jesus can actually say that they go home and search the Word for themselves to see if the message from their preachers are true, accurate, and the reality of the Word Jesus taught! I would venture to say that 90% or more fail to do this even once in their lifetime! What an indictment against the church as a whole in America and possibly the world! Is it any wonder that people heap unto themselves preachers that teach what tickles their ears and makes them feel good because “It’s your best life now.”
Father, thank you for the truth. There is only one Truth, and that is your Son, Jesus. Too many people like to interject their opinion into your Word and taint it with deception and lies. They listen to the minions of satan and fill the hearts and minds of sheeple with false doctrine, false theology, and false gospel. I am ever grateful that you encourage us to study your Word to show ourselves approved. The Word we hide in our hearts man cannot take away nor taint if we devote ourselves to the Truth, the Way, and the Life in Jesus. Help me to know always the Truth and never be led astray by false prophets and false teachers. Help me to only proclaim the Truth of your gospel and to always demand that hearers search it out for themselves, as you’ve taught me to do. Your will be done, not mine. In Jesus’ name, Amen.
