Even before he made the world, God loved us and chose us in Christ to be holy and without fault in his eyes. God decided in advance to adopt us into his own family by bringing us to himself through Jesus Christ. This is what he wanted to do, and it gave him great pleasure. – Ephesians 1:4-5
In the opening of his letter to the Ephesian church, Paul writes that it pleased God to choose us as his own by adopting us into his family! He did this through Jesus and decided all this even before the world had been made! He united both
Jews and non-Jews into one family when his Son tore down the wall of separation on the cross through his execution as our debt payment for sin.
Long before God ever decided to make the universe, he had chosen to have you and me, if we’re his disciples, to be his family. Originally all humanity was to be God’s family, but Adam decided to disobey God to become his own god. Because of his disobedience, he caused all humanity to inherit his sinful “DNA.” This fallen state required a just payment for
violating God’s standard of purity and holiness. The payment is required regardless of how “good” we think we are or how many “good” deeds we do. Hence, God sent Jesus to die as a perfect sacrifice of human blood to pay that debt and fulfill its just requirement for atonement of our wrongs.
However, the beauty of it all is that God decided that it was good and pleasurable to himself to create each person! Despite the fact that not all of humanity would be redeemed into his family because of their stubbornness and desire to be their own gods, he does love all of humanity the same just like those of us who have accepted his adoption of love into his family!
Do you want to be a part of God’s family? Then do this: realize you need someone greater than you to redeem you from your fallen state, who can only be the Lord Jesus! Believe that Jesus really did die to pay your debt that you could NEVER pay! He was raised from the dead by the power of God’s Spirit as the first-born of the risen, Then publicly admit and confess your decision to change your mind about your fallen state and having believed that Jesus was raised from the dead by declaring, “Jesus IS Lord!” At this point, you’re now redeemed from your past and admitted/adopted into God’s family because If you openly declare that Jesus is Lord and believe in your heart that God raised him from the dead, you will
be saved. For it is by believing in your heart that you are made right with God, and it is by openly declaring your
faith that you are saved (Romans 10:9-10) from an eternity in a demon’s hell.
Father, thank you for loving me and choosing me to be a part of your family long before making this world. I’m sorry it took the death and resurrection of your Son, Jesus, to pay the price of my sin, but nonetheless thank you! I’m proud and glad to be a part of your family. Help me and lead me to be a witness of Jesus to those who you want me to help usher into our family! Your will be done, not mine. In Jesus’ name, Amen.
