Whatever happens, conduct yourselves in a manner worthy of the gospel of Christ. – Philippians 1:27
Paul wrote in his short letter to the Philippians that they should live their lives in a manner worthy of the Good News of Christ. This way he would know, as would all, that they are of one faith in the Spirit and not afraid of those who oppose the truth of God.
This is a short response today. We are to live our lives in a manner consistent with the teachings of the Good News of Christ, so we can be living proof of the power of God’s Word in and on the lives of those who trust in the Good News that Jesus died for our sins and rose again to redeem us unto God as his adopted children. Are we living lives that reflect the truth of the gospel? Or, are we perpetrating a fraud that appears to have a sense of godliness but denies its power? Tough thoughts to chew on for a while. May God deal with each of us individually that we may be the true, honest emissaries he’s commissioned us to be to this lost and dying world. We must live out the truth we say we believe in or should quit altogether.
Father, thank you for showing us the truth of the good news. We are your emissaries to this dying world. The message of the gospel must be evident in our daily lives. If it is not, then forgive us and allow us to shine like a light on hill. You called us the light and salt of the world. May the purpose of that statement prove true in each of your children in this dark day in which we live. May we shine with your love and grace. Your will be done, not ours. In Jesus’ name, Amen.
