God’s Word Will Come to Pass!

Scripture:
The sons of Jehoiachin, who was taken prisoner by the Babylonians, were Shealtiel,  Malkiram, Pedaiah, Shenazzar, Jekamiah, Hoshama, and Nedabiah. – 1 Chronicles 3:17-18

Observation:
The three opening chapters of the book of 1 Chronicles does just that. It chronicles the lineage King David and his progeny down to the last king that served Judah before being taken captive into Babylon by King Nebuchadnezzar. King Jehoiachin was ousted from his position by King Nebuchadnezzar after serving only three months because he’d sworn an oath of loyalty in the LORD’s name to the Babylonian king but then rebelled against him. His uncle Zedekiah followed him as the last king of Judah and was taken into exile in Babylon. It had been prophesied again and again that if Judah didn’t turn back to the LORD unlike Israel, then they’d face the same fate of being exiled into a foreign land. Prophet after prophet warned the Jews until the day King Nebuchadnezzar showed up on the Jerusalem doorsteps and burned the city to the ground.

Application:
The word of the LORD is the only stable force in the universe. It is also the only truth in the universe. His Word states that his Word will not return void to him and will accomplish what it sets out to do. He tells us throughout scripture that He is the faithful God, the sure thing, the everlasting One, the Cornerstone, the Rock, and more. When God states that something is going to happen, we can rest assured that it will come to pass. Just as Isaiah foretold the exile of Judah into Babylon and Jeremiah foretold its 70-year captivity in Babylon, many prophets are foretelling the future of America.

Why? Because America is repeating the same rebellious, idolatrous revolt against the One who established her and bless her and made her the envy of the world! God told Israel and Judah for decades to come back to him, but they refused and continued their evil ways. The united kingdom had been established to show the world God’s love and mercy, but they refused to fulfill the role and mission God gave them. America now takes her turn at doing the same. Our prophets speak to our leaders and to the nation as a whole telling us to repent of our national sins and turn back to our Creator and LORD; however, we just march along to our own drummer and his beat, which pounds a path straight into oblivion and hell.

The end of the book of 2 Chronicles sums up best the fate that awaits our nation because we continually refuse God’s warnings. Let us read it together and pray that our leaders will hear, heed, and hearken to the voice of God Almighty!

Zedekiah was a hard and stubborn man, refusing to turn to the Lord, the God of Israel.

Likewise, all the leaders of the priests and the people became more and more unfaithful. They followed all the pagan practices of the surrounding nations, desecrating the Temple of the Lord that had been consecrated in Jerusalem.

The Lord, the God of their ancestors, repeatedly sent his prophets to warn them, for he had compassion on his people and his Temple.  But the people mocked these messengers of God and despised their words. They scoffed at the prophets until the Lord’s anger could no longer be restrained and nothing could be done. (2 Chronicles 36:13b-16)

It’s as if we could substitute modern names in various places and make it sound like a summation of what will happen to America in the not to distant future. Let’s make the substitutions and see if it does pan out that way.

[Obama] was a hard and stubborn man, refusing to turn to the Lord, the God of Israel.

Likewise, all the leaders of the [mainstream churches]and the people [including those who call themselves Christians] became more and more unfaithful. They followed all the pagan practices of the surrounding nations [greed, abortion, homosexuality, drugs, illicit sex of any kind, malice, etc.], desecrating the [body of believers known as the church].

The Lord, the God of their ancestors, repeatedly sent his prophets to warn them, for he had compassion on [America] and his [church].  But the people mocked these messengers of God and despised their words. They scoffed at the prophets until the Lord’s anger could no longer be restrained and nothing could be done.

You decide for yourself how real and possible this scenario can be, is, and will be. I can only deliver the message of repentance because I’m called to the ministry of reconciliation. The message doesn’t sound very good but with every note of doom and gloom there is a note of hope in Jesus the Holy Anointed One of God the Father. He can redeem you from the eternal hell created for demons and save you by his grace through your faith in him as being raised from the dead by God the Holy Spirit and stating that Jesus is LORD!

Prayer:
Father, thank you for your love and mercy. Thank you for your word that is true and sure. There is nothing else we have in this life that is as sure as your word and the outcome stated in it. It breaks my heart to have to deliver message after message to the people of this nation and know that they are going to refuse your mercy and grace for their sinful pride and pleasure that will end soon enough. You stated that as we preach the good news of Jesus to sinners, there will be those who respond, are baptized, and will be saved while those that refuse to do so are condemned already. It is by their election that they will endure your coming judgment. I am anxious to spend eternity with you but know that I have a time here on earth to bid a final warning to as many as will hear it. I am your watchman on the wall. I will sound the alarm! Your will be done, not mine. In Jesus’ name, Amen.
