A person of complete integrity.

Scripture:
There once was a man named Job who lived in the land of Uz. He was blameless—a man of complete integrity. He feared God and stayed away from evil. – Job 1:1

Observation:
The beginning of the book of Job starts out with the statement that Job was a man of complete integrity. He feared God, and he stayed away from evil. The book would go on to give an account of Job and his plight he suffered at the hands of the devil.

Application:
It has often been said that people should be known as people of integrity. The word integrity is best defined as doing the right thing even when no one is around. King David was a man known for his integrity. Jesus exemplified the life of integrity. People with a reputation of being a person of integrity don’t compromise their values or morals even when no one is looking because they know that the eyes of the Lord roam the earth watching over the just and unjust and will one day give an account to God for their behavior in this life. Do you think that no one sees those things you’re doing when you’re all alone? Guess again; God does! He knows what you’re going to do before you do it, so why try to hide things in darkness? Don’t you know that Jesus said that people avoid the light because they try to hide their sin under cover of darkness? Be a person of integrity even at all cost. I want to be known by all as a godly man who is full of integrity and won’t compromise his integrity for anyone or anything.

Prayer:
Father, thank you for loving me in spite of my deficiencies and shortcomings. I know that I am not perfect, but you love me anyway. I thank you for being there with me through the best of times and the worst of times. Thank you for being faithful and loving and unwavering in all things. You set the example of what it means to stand firm in doing the right thing at all times and never giving in to lusts and temptations that pull us humans away from the truth. Jesus, you could have easily turned away from the fate that awaited you and be rightful in doing so, but you honored your Father by completing your mission to save me from sin and death. For that level of integrity I am most grateful and want to emulate it to the fullest. Help me to become a man of complete integrity who does what’s right all the time at all cost. The Father’s will be done, not mine. In Jesus’ name, Amen.
