Where can we find wisdom?

God alone understands the way to wisdom; he knows where it can be found. – Job 28:24

Amidst the rantings and ravings of Job’s friends, Job managed to squeeze an apology every now and then. During one of these defenses, Job managed to say to these friends that wisdom alludes humanity, true wisdom that is. He asks the question of where wisdom can be found. He tells them that true wisdom can only be found in God.

Job was spot on when he stated that true wisdom can only be found in God. There is a wisdom that exists in the world, but the scriptures tells us that it is not from God. The apostle and brother of Jesus, James, tells us that if any person lacks wisdom, let that person ask God, who gives it liberally to anyone who asks. We may need to know how to do something and lack the knowledge to proceed or question something we’re doing.

The only real answer on how to do it right will come from God. Therefore, as we approach life daily, let us ask the God of heaven how to proceed by requesting he give us the wisdom of heaven to know exactly how to and what to do.

The one thing we need to be sure of is that when we ask God for wisdom, let us do it with the right motive. For if we ask with wrong motive, we can be sure that God will not give us what we ask for.

Father, thank you for allowing us to be able to come to you with our problems and for allowing us to ask you for what we need. So many people go through life not knowing how to approach life or how to proceed with daily events. You, on the other hand, want to give us wisdom and teach us how to use it for the benefit and glory of your kingdom and for our personal benefit as it relates to that. You are so wonderful and generous. I know where to come to find true wisdom when I need it. It comes from you. May your will be done, not mine. In Jesus’ name, Amen.
