Don’t listen to those saying, “Don’t worry! The LORD says you will have peace!”

“Do not listen to these prophets when they prophesy to you, filling you with futile hopes. They are making up everything they say.
They do not speak for the LordThey keep saying to those who despise my word, ‘Don’t worry! The Lord says you will have peace!’ And to those who stubbornly follow their own desires, they say, ‘No harm will come your way!’ – Jeremiah 23:16-17

In the face of imminent exile at the hands of King Nebuchadnezzar, king of Babylonia, the prophets of Judah were telling the people that nothing bad would happen. They cried “peace and safety” all through the land. These false prophets, as God called them, said that no harm would come to those who chose to live life their way in total opposition to the ways of God. God sent Jeremiah to tell the people not to follow the sayings of these doomed men but to follow the LORD’s decrees instead and live.

I tire of the “preachers” and “teachers” standing behind pulpits telling people that their best life is now! They can have all they want, do whatever they want, live as they desire, and not to expect anything negative in response. The bible is clear in saying that God is not mocked because whatever a man sows, that shall he reap.

One has to stop and think for a moment. While doing so, ask yourself this question, Have any of these prophets been in the Lord’s presence to hear what he is really saying? Has even one of them cared enough to listen? Have the prosperity and peace preachers/prophets actually taken the time to hear the voice of God? Do they even really study his word to know what it says about his will?

Yes, God does bless his people and heal them and give them good and perfect gifts from above, but most people don’t seek the Giver of blessings. They seek the blessings instead. I’m calling out the Joel Osteens and others like him. They teach people that their best life is now! Really??? Now??? In this age of death and destruction versus the eternity with God when there will be no death or crying or sorrow because the old way has been removed! Our best life is in eternity with Jesus!

I am reminded of the words of Joel’s wife, Victoria, not that long ago where she in her arrogance told Lakewood Church to life for themselves because God is happy when we are happy. She said we do things for ourselves! How ludicrous. She doesn’t know the very reason for our existence. Revelation 4:11 states,You are worthy, O Lord our God, to receive glory and honor and power. For you created all things, and they exist because you created what you pleasedWhy do WE EXIST? God created what he pleased. The KJV puts it this way, for thou hast created all things, and for thy pleasure they are and were created.

The days we live in are drawing to a close. The time of reckoning is soon to begin. It won’t be long before the identity of the evil one will be revealed. Look for the coming 7-year peace treaty between Israel and a world leader. Russia is setting the stage for the long prophesied war of Gog/Magog in Ezekiel 38-39. Those days are here. Shortly after the coming war between Israel and the pan-Arab – Russo alliance, you will see this treaty come forth as the solution to the peace process, which will open the flood gates for the construction of the 3rd Jewish temple to begin.

Father, thank you for creating us. You did so because you love us and wanted to be pleased in and through us. Our lives on this earth are short because of the sin that crept into our existence, but you alleviated that through the sacrifice and resurrection of your Son, Jesus. Oh how the long-winded liars have troubled your people through the ages whether the false prophets of Jeremiah’s day or those of mine. They fill the heads of people with lofty dreams of success and money instead of teaching them humility and grace. Lord, I do my best to be the watchman you chose and called me to be. I hear your voice when you speak to me. I echo those words directly to the people unfiltered and unabridged. I love you, and you alone! Your will be done, not mine. In Jesus’ name, Amen.
