He heard the sound of the trumpet but did not take warning; his blood shall be on himself. But if he had taken warning, he would have saved his life. – Ezekiel 33:5
In the beginning of the 33rd chapter of Ezekiel, we read that Yahweh spoke to the prophet and instructed him to speak to the people of Israel and Judah as a watchman! The LORD commanded him to warn the Jews in Babylonian captivity to heed the warning of Yahweh when the alarm was sounded. The LORD made it clear to the prophet that those who hear the warning and heed it will be saved, but those that disregard the warning will have to answer for their demise.
I’ve begun reading Driven by Eternity (authored by John Bevere) in which its author teaches us and heeds us to listen carefully and closely to the truth of G-d’s word and what it has to say about our lives, existence, and relationship to the Almighty. He points out that in this Age of Grace, people ignore the truth of the Scriptures and have chosen to live life as they see fit and adhere to the sometimes incorrect and/or deceptive messages of false doctrine that permeate the halls and sanctuaries of modern churches. He warns us against those that think an ungodly two-minute sinner’s prayer coupled with the incomplete, deceptive theology of once saved, always saved will usher them into eternity with the Almighty! Scripture clearly teaches us that those who endure to the end will be saved, that many will wax cold in their faith and turn away from Messiah, as did his disciples while he lived on earth, and that people’s names can be and will be redacted from the Lamb’s Book of Life!
We are warned by the Hebraic author,
If we deliberately go on sinning after we have received the knowledge of the truth, no further sacrifice for sins remains, but only a fearful expectation of judgment and raging fire that will consume all adversaries. Anyone who rejected the Law of Moses died without mercy on the testimony of two or three witnesses. How much more severely do you think one deserves to be punished who has trampled on the Son of God, profaned the blood of the covenant that sanctified him, and insulted the Spirit of grace?
For we know Him who said, “Vengeance is Mine; I will repay,” and again, “The Lord will judge His people.” It is a fearful thing to fall into the hands of the living God.
Remember the early days that you were in the light, when you endured a great conflict in the face of suffering. Sometimes you were publicly exposed to ridicule and persecution; at other times you were partners with those who were so treated. You sympathized with those in prison and joyfully accepted the confiscation of your property, knowing that you yourselves had a better and permanent possession.
So do not throw away your confidence; it holds a great reward. You need to persevere, so that after you have done God’s will, you will receive what He has promised. For,
“In just a very while little, He who is coming will come and will not delay. But My righteous one will live by faith; and if he shrinks back, I will take no pleasure in him.” (Hebrews 10:26-38 BSB)
John Bevere has sounded the alarm by loudly blowing the shofar of #DrivenbyEternity and challenged us to look at how we are living our lives! He urges us to take inventory of our spirits and souls and examine if we are truly living by the will of G-d or some foolish, deceptive theology or doctrine that deludes our thinking into believing a lie that will and can lead us away from Messiah and down the broad road to destruction. Yeshua warned us that broad and wide is the path that leads to destruction with many finding it and following it. Through his prophetic poet he warned that there is a way that seems right/good/acceptable unto people, but in the end, it leads to destruction. Yahweh called you to live life by faith and commissioned you to do a work in the earth, the one he called you to not what you think you should do. Accordingly, John points out that we will be judged, as believers on the basis of our eternal reward, not on what we did to what we thought we should but by what Yahweh ordained for us to do.
As much as John heeds us to not ignore the warnings of following the correct path Yahweh has created for us, I’ve written a book (Warning! Don’t Ignore the Signs of God’s Grace, available as a free download from this link) that warns everyone against disregarding the warning signs of G-d’s grace that point us to the need of a Messiah, the one who saves us. As much as John has been ordered to blow his shofar about disciples of Yeshua obeying his word and doing the work they are created for, I’ve been ordered to blow my shofar about the many and obvious signs on the road of life and in the annals of history that Yahweh placed before mankind urging us to return to him. My book starts from the very beginning in the Garden of Eden and concludes with the life, death, burial, and resurrection of Yeshua HaMashiach, the LORD Jesus Christ. It points all who read it to contemplate the signs G-d gives us to point us to Yeshua. Those who reject them will end up like those who go they way of the damned, to spend an eternity in hell. Likewise, those who refuse to heed the warnings John Bevere provides will suffer the loss of their eternal reward as a disciple of Yeshua, with those that become apostate will lose their eternal reward of salvation as outlined in the Hebraic passage above!
LORD, you are the great, powerful, almighty, just, loving Rule of the universe. You are more than words can convey and thoughts comprehend. I humble myself before you today and bestow upon you the praise and honor you deserve. Please forgive me for allowing anything to dilute my faith and trust in you. I thank you for my brother, John Bevere, and his work on being driven by eternity. I thank you for my long-departed brother, Ezekiel, who penned your instructions about not only being a watchman but what happens to those who heed or disregard the truth of your Word! You have raised the alarm and sounded the shofar for all to see and hear. I am accountable to you for my actions and the choice I make to heed or disregard your warning. Your Ruach HaKodesh, Holy Spirit, has chided me today and coaxed me to see in myself those areas where I’ve slacked and not been duly obedient to your Word. For this reason, I’ve asked you to forgive me today. I realize that there are areas within me that need refining by the metallurgist’s fire to draw the dross to the surface and be skimmed away. I want the Refiner to see his reflection in my thoughts, actions, words, and self. Give me a heart fashioned after your Son, Yeshua! May your will alone be done, not mine. This I petition in the name of Yeshua! Amen.
