Welcome to my daily devotions. The Bible says in Eph. 5:27 that Jesus will present the church to himself as a spotless bride without spot or wrinkle. The church achieves that status through “the washing with water through the word…” (Eph. 5:26).
Each day I go through the word of God and read a portion of scripture and post here what the Lord speaks to me from that passage. Through this process, I am allowing God to wash me through the water of his word. I must give warning at this point though that God spoke the following to me through someone: “All the insight, education, [and] biblical knowledge, if NOT PREFIXED IN PRAYER and ROOTED IN LOVE AND COMPASSION, are simply mere words from a human heart with human insight. One can sound like a person who just spent hours in the very presence of God, but WITHOUT LOVE, God can assure you that the person HAS NOT been anywhere near God” – God.
We have to be sure that we don’t neglect one spiritual discipline over the sake of another. We can spend all day in the Bible and gain an intellectual understanding of who God is without ever knowing Him personally. That is where prayer comes in. It is through intimate time spent in communication with God the Father that we learn who He is, what He desires, and who we are. Balance your time in study with time spent in prayer and meditation. Balance is the key.

If you would like to read a given passage for any given day, you can use Bible Gateway’s online bible or other online resources listed in the Useful Links to read the scriptures. The schedule for the Daily Wash reading can be found on the Daily Reading Schedule page. Please use it to follow along and wash in the word with us daily.
Thanks for stopping by, and I hope that God’s word comes alive to you!
One of the favorite ways to read the bible is to just read it through. It only takes about 15-30 minutes a day to accomplish this goal. If you start by reading one block a day from the list found in the Daily Reading Schedule page, you’ll complete it before you know it. However, don’t wait until tomorrow to begin. Get reading now! Use this list in any way that suits yours goals. You don’t have to start with Genesis; you can begin with the reading of your choice.
Remember that if you don’t have a personal copy of God’s word, I encourage you to get one. There are many ways to locate a FREE copy of God’s word for you, a family member, friend, or even an unbeliever. Check out this article on About.com on where and how to get a FREE BIBLE. However, you may also access an online resource for God’s Word – Bible Gateway. For further Bible study, use the Blue Letter Bible. This is a great online resource to have in your study library. It uses the Strong’s Concordance in its Hebrew and Greek searches of the King James Version of the Bible. The BLB has other translations available on its site.
